Summer:

The State Education Tax (SET) is called the Summer Tax. It is a 6 mill tax created as part of Proposal A in 1994. The tax, while collected locally, is a state tax used to support all School Systems in the state.

Prior to 2003, the SET was collected with the winter taxes. Beginning in 2003, State law requires that all SET taxes must be collected by September 14th. Because of this change, the 2003 assessment was lowered to 5 mills (for 2003 only). In 2004, the tax returned to 6 mills.

Summer taxes may be paid to the Township of White Oak by mail or in person at the Township office. Summer taxes can be paid between July 1st and September 14th. During this time the township Treasurer will be at the White Oak Township office  9:00 AM to 12:00 PM Tuesday through Thursday and 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM and 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM on Saturday .  On September 14th the extended hours will be 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM and 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM.

If you would like to call the township office during these hours, the township office phone number is 517-851-8764. The Township fax number is 517-851-4898.
